On Friday 18th September it will be exactly one month since Andrew Wilsea was tragically killed whilst riding his bike along Gelderd Road in Leeds.
Against the backdrop of rising pedestrian and cyclist casualties, Leeds Cycling Campaign are calling on Leeds City Council, The West Yorkshire Combined Authority, and West Yorkshire Police to prioritise the safety of vulnerable road users and do more to make our roads a safer place.
We will be gathering from 5.30 pm at City Square, Leeds with some short speeches beginning at 6.00 pm. Upon conclusion of the speeches we will ride out to Gelderd Road and place a ghost bike at the location of the collision. This will act as a reminder of the traffic violence occurring on our roads on a daily basis.
