Air Pollution Talk at 8pm, Tuesday 12 January 2016

* Around 29,000 people die prematurely in the UK due to air pollution, and it is believed that diesel fuel burnt in vehicles is responsible for around one in four of these deaths

* Volkswagen were recently discovered to have 'defeat devices' so that its engines would only use their pollution control devices fully when being tested - on the road their cars could be emitting around 40 times the allowable limit

* Diesel particulates are linked to the development of cancers, as well as lung and heart disease
