Clean Air Day 2017

TODAY was the first ever National Clean Air Day.

Air pollution is estimated to kill 700 people in Leeds, most of it caused by cars.

Surprisingly though, when the air is polluted it is people in cars who have to breath the most pollution.

There was a demonstration against air pollution in the city centre today, organised by Greenpeace.

See www.cleanairday.org.uk for more details, this website shows Leeds is one of the focus areas.  There is also a chance to win a photography competition (deadline 25 June 2017).
