Bike Night - Open Source Arts

OPEN Source Arts are big fans of pedal powered transportation, which is why they’re marking Bike Week 2018 with our very own Bike Night event, in collaboration with Leeds Bike Mill.

Bike Week encourages people to rethink their everyday journeys and get on their bikes – it’s a great opportunity to highlight the social, health and environmental benefits of cycling, and Bike Night at OSA will be no different!

From 5-8pm there will be a drop-in fee bike maintenance cafe, with mechanics from Leeds Bike Mill on hand to give your trusty steed the once over.  A lovely veggie/vegan cafe upstairs will also be open, offering tasty food, coffee and cakes.

At 8pm we will head off together on a Reclaim the Canal bike ride into town!  There we’ll stop for fluid refuelling, before either riding back up to OSA together or heading homewards, depending on your preference/where home is.

The stretch of the canal we will be cycling has historically been perceived as unsafe, particularly later in the evening, and this solidarity bike ride aims to challenge this by riding together and reclaiming the area.

Following the event we will launch a Reclaim the Canal Facebook page where groups of locals can organise to walk or ride along together.

Please join us to celebrate pedal power and community along the canal towpath!

Open Source Arts is located at 143 Kirkstall Road, Leeds LS3 1JJ (near Seagulls recycled paints, opposite Yorkshire Television).
