Routes severed by motorways? Speak up now!

The Highways Agency is putting up some funding to solve severance of cycle routes, footpaths and bridleways caused by the presence of a Highways Agency route.

There is the potential for low-cost solutions to be implemented should there be a reasonable case put forward. The proposed solution would need to be on land owned by the Highways Agency or Leeds City Council (or both).

The Highways Agency road network includes:

  • M1
  • M62
  • M621
  • A1(M)

We have been invited to suggest locations which are affected. Some suggestions were put to the recent Cycling Consultation Forum, including:

  • Gildersome Roundabout
  • M621 J1 (Outer Ring Road at Beeston/Lower Wortley)
  • Lofthouse Interchange (exploring the feasibility of linking Rothwell Greenway into the Wakefield cycle network).

There was an open invitation for Forum Members to submit locations which warrant further investigation. If you have a location in mind, please contact Russell Oakes at Leeds City Council:
