Skelton Grange Road Bridge Update - November 2024

The new cycle path across Skelton Grange Road Bridge in South Leeds is now open.

Unfortunately that is as far as the good news goes.

The steep steps leading off the cycle path onto the canal towpath prevent many people from accessing this amazing green commuting and leisure route.

The route is part of the Trans-Pennine Trail and Sustrans route 67.

Leeds Cycling Campaign continues to lobby for the provision of a new pedestrian and cycle bridge at Skelton Grange as recommended by the  working group chaired by Leeds City Council.

We are also exploring what opportunities the recent acquisition of 48 acres of the adjoining site by Microsoft for a "hyperscale data centre" and the closure of Thwaite Mill museum might offer to help resolve this long standing blot on the Leeds Cycling network.
